What Up PDX

Huh, that was a long drive.  5 days to be exact.  Driving across the country is fun, crazy, scary, interesting, tiring, liberating, awesome, costly, bad, good, and every other emotion.  I now feel like 300 miles is a trip to the grocery store.  I recommend the journey to everyone.  My favorite states were Wyoming, Utah and Idaho.  Driving over the Continental Divide in a 16 foot moving truck with a Honda Accord in tow is (see previous list).  The best part?  The 1500 feet drops in the road at 3% grade.  The rig was going 85 MPH without me touching the accelerator.  What else did I like?  The landscape.  Jaw dropping and unbelievably vast scenery is to be had in Idaho.  I want to go back to this previously unvisited state.  The west side of the USA is big.

I've been living in Portland for a few weeks.  Its a great town.  I feel like I need to get out more.  Most of my time has been organizing life.   A big move is great for purging and reorganizing.  For someone like me, it is life changing.  I am organizing in ways I never have.  I actually know where my extra mice are located.  You visit and need to borrow something -- the chances are I'll know where it is.  This is a new for me.  Anyway, I am enjoying getting settled.

Back to enjoying this new city... Teresa and I hit Mississippi last night for their Holiday Social.  I grabbed a few gifts from the eclectic shops.  We also had a pint or two at Amnesia Brewing.  MMMMMM.  Good beer.  Everywhere.  Last weekend, we branched out into our neighborhood.  The Concordia Ale House proved and exceptional watering hole with an extensive beer list.  The bar keep handed me "the real menu", and I was in heaven.   Over in Alberta, my new Rafters is Binks.  They even have pool!  We ate amazing Thai at Thai Noon.  The Thai on the west coast is a moving experience.  It puts most places on the east coast to shame.   Later on tonight, we are headed to a Christmas concert packed with local acts.  I can't wait to enjoy some local music.  I'm glad to get out of organizing and into enjoying life.
