Late Engagement Party

Teresa and I have a history of being late. We try our best to arrive on time, but it doesn't always happen. We have the clocks in our house running fast in hopes of fixing our ailment. Maybe one of these days we will. In the spirit of our characters, we decided to have a party to celebrate our engagement. We wanted to invite a lot of the out of town friends. We have been engaged for sometime -- hence the Lateness of the party.

AmieJo and Kevin were kind enough to offer their house for the festivities. The day of the party, Teresa and I helped prepare the food and decorations. We had plenty of help from Gootz, Jen, Anna and Jason. As I played Martha Stewart, and number of friends started to roll into town. After I finished up my duties, I was able to meet up with Alex, Jeff, Dave and Steve. We convened the evening's debauchery at Ryleigh's on Cross Street. I knew this was going to be a marathon.

After some revelry, I walked back to my house to meet Teresa and the girls. I had to clean up and dawn my white pants. Yes, white pants. I was certainly cleaning up for the party in unprecedented style. Very shortly after I changed, we took a cab across the neighborhood to AmieJo's.

Shortly after we arrived, the guests started to trickle into the house. Justin and Tonya arrive with little Nathan. Morgan, Jeff, Ben, Eric, Nate and Avi all arrived with each other. At this point, I started to have fun, and I lost track of arrivals. There was a ton of food setup in the kitchen. Kevin had tapped a keg in the backyard. There were coolers of Texas Tea and Margaritas on the 3rd floor deck. I mainly camped out up on the deck. The weather was at a perfect low 70s temperature.

As the hours waned, a few highlights standout in my mind. Alex game me Chivas Regal Whiskey. This was in remembrance of Lugi's Birthday a few years back. Jeff game me some Wild Irish Rose, and Teresa received Mad Dog 20/20. The Wild Irish Rose was a bad replacement for the discontinued Thunderbird. We drank a bottle of Thunderbird before Field Day. Caroline and Aaron gave me a new American Flag. My old one got trashed at Bonnaroo. Avi decided to climb onto the neighbors roof. I sang Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes in the kitchen. Almost everyone tried out the karaoke machine. The chicken fingers and cream puffs were awesome. Yassar showed up and suggest Charlotte's so, decided to move the party to the other side of Fort Avenue. This was a good idea. We had been at AmieJo's for almost five hours.

Charlotte's is a new place on Light and Randall. It is still trying to find its identity, and I had yet to have been there. We got extremely lucky, and it ended up being a great choice. Our large group was able to take over the premises. They have a large dance floor and plenty of couches. The Dj played our requests until close. I was lucky enough to dance with Teresa for a few songs.

The party didn't end there. Somehow, we made it back to Clement Street for some DMB and late night shenanigans. The entire evening was mind blowing. I had a wonderful time, and it was really cool to celebrate with some amazing people. The wedding is now more real than ever. The best part, there is still more celebration to come!
