A Midsummer Night's Blues

One of my favority band's made a local stop this past Sunday night. The Allman Brother's Band performed at Nissan Pavilion in Virginia. I'd been looking forward to another set after they tore through some blues at the annual Beacon Theatre run. What else defines a summer night more then sweet blues and the great outdoors? Nothing.

Teresa and I left Annapolis with cooler full of drinks, sandwiches, and snacks. I was so excited to get out to Nissan for some quality tailgating. We drove to Sarah's new place in Falls Church. I love her new apartment. She has her own balcony and more space. It didn't take long to transfer our food and drink to the Xterra and we were off to Bristow.

I was really really really suprised with the traffic. It was nonexistent. This was very lucky for us. We pulled into the parking lot without trouble. We setup the chairs and began to relax. I did a lot of catching up with Sarah. We haven't been able to get together in months. She is very busy with the Major League Lacrosse season. She seems to be enjoying the travel so, good for her. We also shared stories of shows past with Teresa. I love the time Sarah locked herself out of the Xterra right before we needed to drive to Penn State. Good Times.

As the tailgate continued, we randomly saw Virginia. Teresa and I met her through Caroline. She was walking through the parking lot for whatever reason and stumbled upon us. She hungout and we offered her some drinks. Eventually, her group of friends joined out group for fun that had us skipping Moe. At one point, the girls were yelling "Go! Go! Go!" to finish up shots before we took the venue by storm. Right before 830pm, we did just that.

Our seats were on the lawn, but this was perfect. I laid out a large blanket and we stashed our oversized frozen margaritas and coronas. We only missed part of the first tune, and I was excited to dance the entire set. Speaking of set, here it is...

Ain't Wasting Time No More
Leave My Blues At Home
Nobody Left To Run With
Who's Been Talking
Hot Lanta
Same Thing (w/Ron Holloway on sax)
Old Before My Time
Come and Go Blues
Egypt
Revival
Desdemona (w/Ron Holloway on sax)
Hoochie Coochie Man
In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed (Les Brers tease and Jesus Children of America tease)

Encore
One Way Out

?!?!?!?! Fantastic. During "Leave My Blues At Home," I found Nate and his friends. We all congregated by the blanket while the music took over the night. I loved "Nobody Left To Run With." Teresa got me into this song from one of her mix CDs. Ron Holloway was great as always. In this middle part, we watched a mullet wearing father through around his tye died adorned child in the air. Perfect. "Egypt" is a new song that i really enjoy, but I almost committed a concert foul at its completion. I had to use the bathroom so baddddd, but it was "Revival." Time to dance it off... I scooted out afterwards but missed part of "Desdemona." The end of the set was sick with a ripping "Hoochie Coochie Man" and decently long "Liz Reed" that now spauns one of the best memories. You can never go wrong with a "One Way Out" encore.

The show was awesome. I don't understand why I don't go to more ABB shows in the summertime. Ever single one is worth it. Maybe next year when I don't have so many weddings. One thing is sure, Teresa dances more then me. Crazy. It was good to see Nate. We have to hangout more now that he lives in DC. As always, Virginia lightens the mood. Thanks so much to Sarah for driving out to Nissan. Blues and a summer night - yes yes yes.
