Playing The World's Game
I have loved watching the European Leagues all winter long. The best channel on digital cable - Fox Soccer Channel! I followed the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Champions League, and more. Needless to say, I was itching to start playing myself.
A month ago, I stopped threatening to friends and hoped online to look for a team. I found the Maryland State Soccer Association. They had a list of teams looking for players. One was called Rowdies FC. The are going to begin play this fall in the Maryland Major Soccer League - Division 2.
Lucky for me, the team organizer emailed me back. We began practice last Sunday night near BWI. The games will be Sunday mornings. I'll have to keep my traveling and late Saturday nights to a minimum, but I bet it will be worth it. All the more reason to get up early Saturday, and drink for Premiership games before noon. I just hope we are respectable, and plenty of players show up for each game. I know I am decent, but not the best. I don't want to loose.
If your feeling bored on a Sunday morning, I'll keep everyone updated. It would be cool to have some fans for these games. Either way, I am excited to again play the game. Its the best game in the world. Now, I have to get back to running...
