Not Normal

Do regular people have three randoms from three different states drop by their house on a friday afternoon? Do they? Then the three randoms drag you to a show a mile from your house? Do they? Then suggest the last supper at a diner past 3am? Do they? Then sleep in your house well past noon? Do they? In my life, they do...

These three people are Loren (Ohio), Ben (00), and Avi (Virginia). They all came to Annapolis for Acoustic Pat McGee & Friends at the Rams Head. Two shows were scheduled. I did not attend the early show, but helped shuttle the crew down West Street.

I joined the party around 930pm. The first show was just letting out, and I saw Chardy walk toward the street. We stood on the curb catching up when a scruffy looking guy in huge dreds approached us. He was not looking for a handout, but he was selling poetry. What a great idea. We perused a few pieces and were quite impressed! I purchased one, and Chardy grabbed three. It was time to see about the second show.

I caught up with Loren and Ben near the door. We waited for the line to die and took our spots in this beautiful menu venue. Unfortunately, we did not have four seats together. Loren was up near the stage. Ben and Avi were back near the board, and I was far stage left. The show started out with technical difficulties, but it really started to roll. The band consisted of Pat, Chardy, Brian, and Todd. I loved hearing "Girl >From Athens." Al was in the crowd and were persuaded to get on stage for a few songs including "Haven't Seen," "Fire," and "Passion." We broke the cardinal rule of menu venues - well I did. We danced in the aisle to Passion! I had too, it is my favorite song. The only damper on the show was I had to put in sometime for work. I had the laptop fired up with a dial up connection. Good Times. Good Times.

After the show, I helped the band load out. I miss being on the road. It really is a fun life. My silly silly random friends talked me into an adventure for tonight. I am off to Hoboken in an hour or so. How can I say no to door to door service! Plus, everyone is going to be there. The best things in life are not normal and completely random.
