I will venture to say, this could be fun. I got home from work and crashed into my bed. I was so tired. I really was hoping for a low key evening, but for at least something. I didn't want to sit around in my house by myself all night. Around 7pm, I called up Denby and Jason. We decided on pizza and movies. That sounded perfect to me.
I stopped by Jackson street. Denby had already ordered Pappa Johns. Jason and I were tasked with visiting Blockbuster. We have been listening to a lot Snoop's new album - R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece. The first single came out in 2004 - "Drop It Like It's Hot." It has such a minimal but awesome beat. We started throwing around "Jesus Drops It Like It's Hot" in Blockbuster. Is that wrong? Anyway, we rented Garden State and Troy. It was back to the house. I hoped the pizza had arrived.
Of course, it hadn't. I was about to eat my hand. The only thing I could stomach all day was a banana and Red Bull. It finally showed up, and we ate while watching some documentary about porn stars on HBO. It was time to pop in Garden State. Zach Braff wrote, directed, and starred in the film. Ya know, the really funny guy from Scrubs. Many people recommended this film to me. In a nutshell, Braff's character's, Andrew Largeman, is rather unhappy due to his family relationships. The movie documents a great change in his life that curbs his unhappiness. The beginning is discombobulated and confusing. I believe this is meant to be. The viewer is suppose to use the wacky plot to relate to Largeman. As he starts his transformation, the plot tightens into a clearer story line. Natalie Portman's character, Sam, plays Largeman's love interest. She is so goofy in this movie. I was in love. Kudos to Braff. If I wrote and directed a movie like this, I would have also chosen a hot girl to make out with in some of the scenes. Plus, the Soundtrack is so sweet. I need to get a copy. It features a few of my favorite artist's like Simon & Garfunkel, Coldplay, and Thievery Corporation. There are a few I didn't recognize but need to get to know. If you haven't, I'd recommend watching this film. Jason and I watched Troy, but Denby went to sleep. It was ok. Not as much gore in the battle scenes as we were hoping for. It was entertaining, but I really don't feel like writing about it. Watch it on cable or something.
I was happy with this Friday evening. I was home and asleep without any craziness. Exactly what I needed. Not only was it relaxing, but cool things happened! I am so psyched for the ABB shows. Two weekend in NYC in a row!!! As I said before, Garden State was really good. I love quirky movies. Not to mention, the three of us needed to rest up for today. Megan's graduation celebrations are set to begin in a few hours.

Hey Sim...yeah...Garden State is a good movie...and quite an impressive debut for zach braff...I watched a bit of it last night as well again...the soundtrack is excellent...one of the unknown bands you might be referring to may be The Shins...you've prob. heard me praise them before and they are featured prominently throughout the film...also, as an update...the outlook here in the Garden State continues to support the idea that 2005 will be the best year ever...
Simeon...in fact I do Drop It Like It's Hot
