Eating Out
I made a New Year's Resolution with Gina. We are going to eat at a new restaurant each month this year. We have modified it a bit. At least one person in the party has to have never eaten at the restaurant. It will be so much fun. We'll drive around Annapolis looking for interesting places to eat! We fulfilled January just today. The rest of the weekend was filled with other new restaurants and silliness.
Friday, I played Home Improvement with Matt, Mr. Aird, Jason, Denby and both Megan Elizabeth Airds. Matt and Megan are hoping to move into their new house by February so, we all stopped by Friday to help. I was tasked as a painter. I knocked out a second coat in the master bedroom. I also painted the hallway and living room ceiling. We had so much fun eating Popeyes chicken, knocking back a few, listening to WRNR, and working. I think they might make the move in date.
Saturday, I cleaned up my house. I am so clean now its scary. So uncharacteristic of Simeon. I kept the theme going all day long. I had to round up supplies for Rio. I felt like Raoul Duke and Dr. Gonzo getting ready for the Mint 400. I got another Penguin shirt and some jeans. Plus, I got some stuff from CVS. Ready for the beach!!! Somewhat packed a week early - Uncharacteristic.
Saturday night was suppose to be night to start the New Years Resolution. The girls weren't quite up for it so, Jason, Denby and I went to The Rockfish. I am really digging this place. It was my first time. We had some impromptu drinks with Jake before dinner. We sat in their very open and large dinning room. You feel separate from other tables because of space. Its sweet. An old friend of ours, Kate, was our waitress. I was so impressed with the food and service. The appetizers, crab fritters and thai barbecue chicken wings, rocked my taste buds. Ever dip wings in cucumber sauce? You should. For the main course, i indulged in Shrimp Penne with a side of fried green tomatoes. The pasta was crazy awesome. The sauce was very light. Vegetable garnishes included red peppers and succulent mushrooms. The Scrumps were large and flavorful. Good meal. Slight pricey, but worth the trip, this Rockfish.
After our meal, the happy couple was escorted home. I ran downtown to met Gina and Anna at O'Briens. They spent most of the evening watching Sex in the City. It was time to escape at a bar. We copped a table by the window. Speaking of cops, they were everywhere. While I was waiting for the girls, a women was thrown out of the bar. She then proceeded to hit a male cop. Cuffs and Cop car for her. Crazy. Because of this episode, O'Briens was hesitant to pack their establishment. We relished our cold drinks and warm seats while poor souls waited in line like sheep. After some Dirty Girl Scout Cookie shots, a solid decision was made: Bahamas in June. Anna will be there for a wedding. Gina and I will leech the room for two nights. Tropical Paradise for the weekend? Why not... We continued the party over off Bestgate. The girls drowned my ears with Country music mixes, but we did sample some Ray Lamontagne. I need to steal this CD from Gina.
Sunday, I was unhappy. Late night phone conversations can be crazy. We probably called you. Either way, I was somewhat under the weather. We took this opportunity to tackle January with Cafe Normandie. It is located right on Main Street. I was semi-excited for food and ordered Cream of Crab. It was decent, but I was loving the water. At least, we are a month into it. What's next for February?
Another quality weekend in Maryland's Capital. I really enjoyed the real conversation with Denby and Jason. My goofy fun times with Gina and Anna can't compare with anything else, or should I say Bonnie and Sarah? I'm already looking forward to the week after I return from South America. Well kinda. We should confiscate a table at McGarvey's! Here's to the coming week. Lets hope it flies like a cheetah. Im trying to leave on a jet plane... RIO!!!!
