And The Carry On

Saturday, someone woke me well past dark. I spent what felt like three seconds passed out in the computer room. I felt like walking death. Rob was reading so, Herczeg and I prepared for the night.

In true Simeon and Herczeg fashion, this meant listening to lots of slamming music like the Allman Brothers Band, Coldplay, and Traffic. I pounded water while he put down some PBR. We did our best to harass Rob as much as possible. We were killing time before Jeff got back from a family birthday party. Once he arrived, we piled in the Explorer to head for Center City. The girls wanted to stop by World Fusion for the evening. We were overly excited to learn they still occupied a table at a Mexican restaurant down the street. I was not ready for a loud Philly bar.

We walked into the small place (who has the name?) to see Jen, Anna, Gina, and Heather at a back table. A small amount of patrons sat at other tables. The wait staff kindly gave us a larger table. We mixed up the sexes, and I sat in between Jen and Anna. It was great to see them all! Well, I hadn't seen Jen since the summer. The drinks started to flow, and we talked for what felt like hours. I'll say it now, we are so lucky to know such a cool group of girls. It really is a horrible shame that this group lives in four different states. We know how to have a great time! The conversation consisted of teasing each other, kissing, and the up-coming Christmas Party. We could have stayed seated the entire night, but World Fusion needed some spice.

Unfortunately, Jen had to grab a cab back to NJ. It was down to the six of us. The girls were kind enough to let us enter first. The bouncer was a typical moron, and it was a good call on their part. Three guys would not have entered quickly. I'll tell you what, this place is an eye catcher. I found myself staring at the molded ceiling forever. Lavender drapes feel from hangings, and the bar winded around the open room with extravagantly decorated walls. I thought the decor was more suited for a classy restaurant then a loud raucous bar with sub par hip-hop to boot. We made the best of the situation. Throughout the evening, a few La Salle heads randomly appeared including Todd, Kathy, and Heather. Anna and I tried to dance, but a bouncer kept telling us to leave the walk way. We stayed till the end, but the night was just starting.

Remember how Heather has a new place? We walked back there for a dance party. The girls all dawned silly hats, Heather poured some wine, and Anna DJ'd. "One More Time" and Tim McGraw's version of "Tiny Dancer" had to be the highlights. We danced around the living room like fools. Everyone was snapping photos, and I got some decent shots with the phone. Here is one of Gina, Mark, and Jeff.

I would have loved to stay. I heard there was a Fashion Show for Jeff, but Herczeg and I needed to get to Transit. Paper Street was throwing Easy Livin' till 8am. I was really excited to see Junior Sanchez, Imri, and Alex Adrock. We cabbed it over, and were inside by 4am. The club was not over packed, but the crowd was kind. You know, plenty of room to dance. Everyone was having a great time. I always go to Transit with memories of Tiesto. It was so crowded for that party.

I was pleasantly surprised to see all the house music. Both upstairs and downstairs were jumping with deep soulful music. Junior Sanchez was already on in the main room, and people were lovin it. I distinctly remember two great remix tracks - With Or Without You and The Clash. Besides that, I spent most of the beginning of the night on the third floor. First, the music was unbelievable from DJ MartyR and DJ Cory. I got a chance to talk to Marty, and he gave me a few mix cds. Maybe they will get a gig down in Baltimore? Second, two retards were on a couch having sex with clothes on. I was sitting with this other guy, and he said, "I feel as if I should be paying for this show." Crazy I tell you.

Once the bouncers cleared out upstairs, I went into the basement for Lucas Rivera. He was dropping tracks with a full percussion section. The room was loving the sound, and it was all people could do not to dance. It was kinda cleared due to the late hour, but I was enjoying the room. Hopefully, he'll have some mixes up on his site once production is finished.

I made sure to be upstairs in the main room just after 7am. Imri was scheduled to help close down the party. By this time, anyone needs something nasty to keep it moving. Imri brought the nasty breaks and progressive like we needed it. I enjoyed staying up with the music. Adrock closed the party down past 8am. It was time to go home.

Herczeg and I talked to Adrock outside while waiting for Jeff. He invited us to the afterparty, but my ride was leaving at 1030am. There was no way I could continue this night. Once Jeff pulled up on Springgarden, I was happy to crawl in the back seat for the drive to Manyunk. Back at Fowler, we sat on the couch and waited for Anna and Gina. Gina was kind enough to take me all the way back to Annapolis! It's now my turn to drive to Philadelphia. Maybe we will do that trip in January or February?

Whew, what a crazy few days. My body was all sorts of wack. I didn't know the difference between day and night. I needed sleep and food. Sunday afternoon was spent satisfying those needs. I'm glad my excitement lived up to itself. I could not have planned a crazy sequence of events. Too much of the weekend was a random awesome surprise. Isn't that the best way? Yes, yes, it always is...

Definitely a fun weekend over all, and the restaurant on Saturday was called the Mexican Post...a place that definitely deserves a return visit in the near future. Oh and Simeon, in the future please consult with Jeff, Gina and I prior to posting pictures of us taken at 3:30 am. My bright orange sweater and Jeff's flamboyant scarf might lead some to question our sexuality.

Herczeg, I was waiting for you at the after-party. Steve was trying to call you. We must have wrote your number down wrong. Anyway, next time I'm in Philly I'll see you in the parking lot. :) Simeon great site!!

Since Jeff participated in the fashion show I would assume that the fashion show wasn't for him as stated above. He looked great in Heathers vest and scarf.

Jeff | December 16, 2004 6:54 PM

yikes, that scarf was flamboyant wasn't it...Heather's new apt. is great but it had a bit of a draft...thanks to heather for letting me borrow the scarf and vest... Gina, I'm glad to see you come out of the simeons.net woodwork to post the fallacy that I was in the fashion show....Let's get a few things straight... 1. The fashion show was for me...Don't deny it. 2. I did not "participate" in the fashion show...I was the photographer...every great fashion show needs one...and on this night, it was my responsibility... 3. I did not pose once...I took pictures and fixed cupboards...that is all 4. I look good in anything... Should'nt you be working on the spring collection

jeff since the fashion show being FOR you was a lie does that mean the story about getting triple-teamed by anna gina and heather was a lie too?
